Saint Mark's Choir
The Saint Mark's Choir sings Sundays during the 11:00 mass from September through May; also on feast days and other parish celebrations. Rehearsals are spent preparing hymns, psalms, and a wide variety of choral literature from chant to spirituals. Though differing greatly in background and knowledge of music, there is a fine air of collegiality between the singers, who all find joy singing in our beautiful church flanked on either side by the organ. Rehearsals are Thursdays, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Festival Choir
The Festival Choir includes members of all parish music groups along with other singers in the parish who aren't able to participate year-round. Some opportunities to sing include Advent Lessons and Carols, Christmas, Holy Week, Confirmation, First Communion, and other special events.
Ensembles
The Ensembles lead music at 9:00 Sunday mass and other parish celebrations. Singers and various instruments join the spirited congregation.
The ensemble groups play two Sundays a month on a rotating schedule, rehearsing before mass at 8:00 a.m. Some also rehearse during the week.
Saturday 5pm Ensemble
This ensemble leads music for the Saturday 5pm Mass under the direction of Br. Adam. Rehearsal on Wednesday evening.
Children's Choir
In Children's Choir, third through eighth graders learn and practice singing technique along with other basics of music. They participate in the liturgical life of the parish, singing several times during the year: Advent Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve Mass, Palm and Easter Sunday, Confirmation at the Cathedral and First Communion. The choir loves singing in the loft with the organ, and members are very proud to sing in Latin. Pieces they have learned include Panis Angelicus, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, and My Spirit Rejoices. Rehearsals are Saturdays, 9:30 to 10:30 am.
